Ndume 's removal was necessary--Oyegun
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has said the removal of the former Senate leader, Senator Ali Ndume, was a necessary act.
Recall that Ndume was recently removed as Senate majority leader by the APC caucus in the upper house of legislature and replaced with Ahmed Lawan.
But Chief John Odigie-Oyegun described Lawan’s emergence as beneficial to the party.
Speaking when he received the new leader, Lawan, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, the party’s national chairman said he was happy that the long-standing rift among party members had been settled with the selection of Lawan as Senate majority leader, Vanguard reports.
He said: “We all regret that it took so long for us to arrive at the position we are today. What is important is that it has finally happened. What is important is that the APC caucus in the Senate is now a one united body.”
Speaking earlier, Lawan stated that his election as the new Senate leader was a clear demonstration of the supremacy of his party, the ruling APC.
He said there was now no excuse for the party’s caucus in the Senate not to perform, given the fact that the contending forces have sheathed their swords.
