Diego Costa writes open letter thanking Chelsea fans after completing Atletico Madrid move

Costa's return to the club where he spent four years before joining Chelsea back in 2014 was confirmed on Tuesday night, with the striker available to play for Atletico from January 1 when their transfer ban is lifted. The Brazil-born striker expressed his love for Chelsea's supporters in his farewell message but there was no mention of Blues boss Antonio Conte or the Italian's coaching staff in Costa's social media post. "Two championship titles, a Community Shield, 120 matches, 59 goals and 24 assists later this cycle has ended. Not the way I would have wanted, far from it.  But the best way possible. "The wonderful fans of such equally admirable club and all team-mates, as well as all clinical, administrative and logistics staff will remain forever in my mind and in my heart. "Will bring them with me with the certainty that I will always be by their side as well, and I'm sure they will understand the reason why this cycle of mine has now

Melaye’s Recall: INEC Will Return To Court On Thursday

Image
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC will return to court on Thursday to request new directives or the substituted service of the recall petition and documents on Senator Dino Melaye after the Senator “refused to accept” service. INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity Department, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, said this on Tuesday after efforts by the commission to formally serve Senator Melaye the petition it received from his constituents to recall him met a brick wall. Officials of the commission and the bailiff of the Federal High Court had stormed the Senate to serve Senator Melaye, but his office was locked. “Well, the bailiff of the Federal High Court, on behalf of the commission, went to attempt to serve Senator Melaye this afternoon, but Senator Melaye refused to accept service from the bailiff of the court,” Osaze-Uzzi said in a phone interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. Consequently, officials of the commission and the bailiff dropped

Fayose Throws Hat Into the Ring

The governor was hopeful that if supported by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would take over government from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “I’m going straight to that Villa. I’m the next president,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday by his special assistant on public communications and new media, Mr Lere Olayinka. “I have a penchant for taking powers; that one in President Muhammadu Buhari’s hand, I will take it.” Fayose further revealed plans to formally declare his intention to run for presidency in the general elections on Thursday in Abuja. He, however, said in a letter addressed to leaders of the PDP that his ambition to be president was without prejudice to the party’s position, but in the overall interest of the party and the country. The letter read; “It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I write to inform you of my intention to seek the ticket/mandate of our party to contest the 2019 presidential election. “Conside

Nigeria’s minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari is under no obligation to disclose his medical condition.Mohammed suggested the silence was not unusual, just hours after the president returned to Abuja from another round of check-ups in the British capital. “It’s not strange at all for a sitting president to be ill and it’s not strange either for the state to take care of his medical bill,” Lai Mohammed told AFP in an interview. “I think we would rather respect his privacy,” he said. “If Mr President feels like telling the world his ailment, so be it.”

Twitter Moves up Character Limit to 280

Image
Twitter  is testing out a new system with its social media platform by doubling the character limit to 280. But the feature is only available to a small group. The news was announced on the Twitter blog which said the reason for the change was that more characters would give the opportunity for Twitter users to convey a thorough thought in 280 characters instead of cramming it into 140 characters. They found that languages like Japanese, Korean, and Chinese can convey about double the amount of information in one character as in other languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese or French. This means people who tweet in Japanese, Korean and Chinese can express thoughts in fewer characters with more room to spare, as opposed to English, which takes up a lot of tweet real estate. They said they increased the character limit to 280 for languages impacted by cramming. Here is the twit:  Follow Twitter   ✔ @Twitter Can’t fit your Tweet into 140 characters?  W
