Guy change your ways...Rugged man

Image
rian rapper, Michael Ugochukwu a.k.a Ruggedman has reacted to Blackface’s stance on the nationwide protest initiated by his former band mate, Tuface. Black Face is totally against Tuface’s move and on his Instagram page, he shared a post by one Dr Bunmi Awoyemi, who lambasted  Tubaba. According to Ruggedman, Blackface’s post is quite disappointing and  he advised him to change his ways.  Ruggedman wrote: ”BLACKFACE FACE WHAT’S REAL" @blackfacenaija you be my guy and@official2baba na my guy but I will tell you that this your move right here is very disappointing. You sang hardlife and all when things were even a bit bearable, but now that things are really messed up you have kept quiet. But here you are mouthing off over a 2Face move? Guy you fall my hand. Talking about educating people…..1. It is not a protest being lead by 2face. He said he saw the post and thought to lend his voice to it. Something a few other artists and people have done. 2. So you knew about all the go

Becoming Warran Buffett

Image
Warren Buffett is a simple man, with just one caveat — his nearly $74 billion fortune. Buffett The current second richest man in the world — just a cool $11 billion under pal Bill Gates — is the subject of a new HBO documentary, titled Becoming Warren Buffett, that explores his lesser-known personal life. But his daughter Susie Buffett warns not to expect anything extravagant from the successful Berkshire Hathaway investor. “He’s pretty boring — it’s just not what people expect,” Susie told The Curious mind some of the most surprising things about her dad. “I think it’s also probably surprising to people that the money doesn’t matter to him. He made the money sort of by accident because he was really good at doing what he loved, and when you do that particular thing really well, you end up with a whole bunch of money. But it’s really true that he does not care about having a bunch of money.” Buffett, 86, echoed his oldest child’s sentiments at the film’s premiere in N.Y.C.

Simi is the latest cover Star for Vibe magazine

Image
Simi is the latest cover star for Vibe.ng magazine as the music star talks about her love for music, her style, Adekunle Gold, Falz, Ycee and more. Talking about her parents supporting her dream, she says “…Because I know how hard it is to follow your dreams in this country and because usually, our parents like to dream on our behalf…” When asked what the most hurtful comment she had received on social media was, she rolled her eyes upwards; as if to access a mental cache. She eventually remembers one that really stung and she quoted, “Simi is the kind of person that would make expensive stuff look cheap.” Talking about her style, she says “I didn’t come into this industry as a fashionista or a fashion icon. I’m not a model, I’m not a fashion designer so if you come and attack that… I can learn and become better but I can’t feel bad because that’s not my talent. Do you understand? That’s not where I am selling.”

SGA makes thought clear on Moslem ban

The Screen Actors Guild Awards made clear that politics are going to be an integral part of award shows, as one performer after another voiced antagonism toward Trump administration policies. The so-called "Muslim ban" dominated comments from presenters and recipients Sunday. To those who might be inclined to tell artists to shut up and sing or act, the evening offered a concerted rejoinder, subjecting President Trump to rebukes that ranged from mockery to more sober indictments to stirring statements about unity and how recent government actions are antithetical to American values. The same themes emerged the night before, at the untelevised Producers Guild of America honors. That ceremony also heightened the more prosaic sense that "La La Land" is the movie to beat for this year's Oscar, given a historic correlation between winning there and the Academy Awards. Obviously, not everyone agrees with the politics expressed, and it's become a popular tro

Barrow removes Islamic Republic from Gambia

Image
Adama Barrow, The Gambia’s new President, has vowed to reform the country’s intelligence agency and also ensure media freedom in the country. Barrow spoke on Saturday at his first news conference since returning to the country to assume power. He announced plans to rename the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), a dreaded secret police accused by rights groups of forced disappearances and torture under the control of former leader Yahya Jammeh. Barrow told reporters that the NIA was “an institution that has to continue”, but with a different name. “The rule of the law, that will be the order of the day,” he said, adding that training would be given to NIA’s operatives. He also said the country’s official name will no longer contain the word “Islamic”, which had been added by Jammeh in 2015. The new president said The Gambia, whose population is 90 percent Muslim, with the rest Christian and animist, was a republic “not the Islamic republic”. Jammeh, who ruled the small West

El-Rufai should produce herdsmen that he gave money... Apostle Suleiman

The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to compel Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to produce Fulani herdsmen to whom money was paid so as to disabuse the minds of Nigerians that Christians are not the target of President Muhammadu’s administration. The cleric in a statement by his Communications Adviser in Abuja, said failure to compel El-Rufai to produce the herdsmen who purportedly collected money from the Kaduna State Government is an indication of the insincerity of the Buhari administration. “The Governor of Kaduna State confessed that he paid money to some Fulani herdsmen as compensation to stop the killings in Southern Kaduna. That means he knows those who have committed atrocities against Christians. He must be made to produce them to answer to charges of murder and other crimes”, he declared. “El-Rufai can be safely regarded as an apologist of the herdsmen, and with a fact. On July 12

More Celebrity involvement in Tuface planned protest

Moments after he made the call, music stars like Davido and Burna Boy threw their weights behind the “African Queen” singer . Other entertainers have followed suit. They include, maverick musician, Charly Boy, comedian, I Go Dye and popular ‘Galala’ singer, Daddy Showkey. I Go Dye, yesterday described the planned nationwide protest as a step in the right direction, declaring that he would support the cause. He said, “Social movement and societal development requ

I think they have found the right one...Rooney

The Portuguese manager guided the Red Devils to the EFL Cup final this week and the striker is sure more flirtations with silverware will follow. Wayne Rooney is convinced Manchester United's wait to find the right replacement for Alex Ferguson has ended with the arrival of Jose Mourinho. After seeing the side struggle under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal in the wake of Ferguson's departure, United's record goalscorer continues to be hugely impressed with the former Chelsea boss, who led the club to the EFL Cup - their first major final since his appointment - this week. Club captain Rooney feels a period of adaption was to be expected after Ferguson's trophy-laden 26-year reign came to an end, but is now confident of a spell of success under Mourinho's leadership. "I think that's part of football," Rooney told BBC Sport of United's years without their previous dominance after Ferguson retired in 2013. "Obviously Manchester Unit

It is thought to be the first operation of its kind in the world and she was kept alive with a small, artificial lung. Melissa Benoit, who lives in Canada, had developed life-threatening complications as a result of her cystic fibrosis. She said: “In my mid-20s I started developing lung infections, and I acquired influenza with this bout which put me in respiratory distress.” Melissa was given hours to live, until doctors undertook the pioneering surgery which she was told had a “small chance” of saving her life. “I had to live on life support with no lungs for six days while I awaited suitable donor lungs. There was a lot of excitement when I came to, that, wow, this actually worked and we saved her,” added Melissa.

Iran bans Americans

In response to President Donald Trumps executive order restricting entry of travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries including Iran, the Iranian government has responded announcing it would also not allow Americans to enter its country. On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement on state-run media saying: “While respecting the American people and distinguishing between them and the hostile policies of the U.S. government, Iran will implement the principle of reciprocity until the offensive U.S. limitations against Iranian nationals are lifted. The restrictions against travel by Muslims to America… are an open affront against the Muslim world and the Iranian nation in particular and will be known as a great gift to extremists.” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani condemned President Trump’s actions in an address at a tourism conference in Tehran televised live on Saturday on state television. “Today is not the time to erect walls between nations. I built a wall along Israel's southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea," he wrote, with images of the Israeli and American flag. The tweet marked a rare public foray for the Israeli leader into a charged American domestic affair. The two leaders spoke earlier this week and Netanyahu is planning to visit Trump in the White House next month. After repeated clashes with President Obama, Netanyahu has high expectations for Trump, who has signaled he will take a kinder approach.

She takes things too far...Ed Sheran

Ed and Taylor Ed Sheeran is competitive and that's one thing that he's got in common with his best friend Taylor Swift. They might not be pictured together very often anymore, but Taylor and Ed have a lot in common and it's partly down to them considering themselves the “underdog”. In the upcoming March issue of GQ, Ed said: “There’s an underdog element to it. Taylor [Swift] was never the popular kid in school. I was never the popular kid in school. Then you get to the point when you become the most popular kid in school – and we both take it a bit too far. “She wants to be the biggest female artist in the world and I want to be the biggest male artist in the world. It also comes from always being told that you can’t do something and being like, ‘F you. I can.’” With every other hopeful putting their own spin on one of his songs at X Factor auditions, Ed acknowledge that there were several musicians following in his footsteps. “There are a lot of singer-so

Lazy Adebayor

Image
Lazy Adebayor Brede Hangeland considers former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor to be an “incredible natural talent, but very lazy”. The ex-Norway international, who announced his retirement last summer, brought the curtain down on his playing days working alongside the enigmatic Togolese striker at Crystal Palace. Their paths had crossed at various stages before then, with Hangeland’s six-year spell at Fulham seeing him face Adebayor at Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. He admits the forward’s bizarre antics had him baffled long before they occupied the same dressing room, with the now 32-year-old free agent often more concerned with food than football. Speaking on Norwegian radio show Heia fotball, Hangeland recalled: “I only played with him for six months but here's a quick story. I was playing for Fulham and he played for Spurs. “We were attacking and I was marking Adebayor in the midfield. He suddenly he said, 'Ahhh, I'm hungry.' I replied, 'Wh

Mexico's President refuses to finance Trump wall

"This morning we informed the White House that I will not attend the work meeting planned for next Tuesday with the POTUS," Pena Nieto said on Twitter, referring to Trump. "Mexico reiterates its willingness to work with the United States to reach accords that favor both nations." The Mexican president's rejection came after Trump said it was "better to cancel" the scheduled visit to Washington if Mexico was unwilling to foot the bill for a border wall. Manuel Suarez-Mier, a columnist for Mexico's Excelsior newspaper, said that Trump's ultimatum came as a surprise for the Mexican government. "The minister of foreign affairs and the minister of commerce were in Washington from Mexico on Wednesd

Love  and trouble  An estranged wife, Toyin Ogunminiyi, yesterday, urged a customary court sitting in Ikole-Ekiti to help effect the release of six pairs of her panties in her husband’s possession. Other personal belongings the complainant sought for retrieval from her husband, Tope, include two native dresses, one jeans skirt and a plastic basin. The 30-year-old woman also prayed the court to dissolve her 20-year-old marriage. Amid the tornado wreckage in Mississippi, a Bible is left untouched

Open Bible found in Mississippi  When a tornado battered southern Mississippi over the weekend, it yanked trees off the ground and tore through buildings at William Carey University. When staffers combed the campus, sifting through the damage, they said they stumbbled on a stunning scene: An open Bible on the pulpit of the campus church, undisturbed by the surrounding debris. The open page from Psalm 46, the staffers said, read: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Rick Wilemon, an adjunct art instructor at the private Christian college, snapped some photos of the Bible as it was found in the otherwise-damaged Bass Chapel after the EF-3 tornado hit Hattiesburg. "No building was left untouched," Wilemon told CNN. "So many appear to be total losses." Wilemon said the Bible was a fixture in the chapel. And the condition it was found in has bolstered the spirits of the campus and beyond. "It is remarkable that

The hope mavrodians have of retrieving their ‘investments’ and ‘profits’ from the Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (MMM) Ponzi scheme continues to dim by the day, as Nigeria’s top guider, Chuddy Ugorji, has reportedly fled the country. It was gathered that Ugorji, left Nigeria with his wife to the Philippines. Fayose saves Pastor Suleiman

Image
Apostle Suleiman was in Ekiti for a two-day crusade, which was attended by Governor Fayose. He was later trailed to his hotel after visiting the Government House. The DSS operatives encountered resistance from the hotel security, who demanded to know what their mission was. It led to the pastor alerting Fayose, who stepped in and stopped the attempt to arrest him. Suleiman while narrating the incident said: “I came to Ado Ekiti for a crusade. But I had a premonition that I was being trailed after I preached that Christians should retaliate any attack or killings by the Fulani herdsmen. “These Fulani headmen had turned many Christians to orphans and widowers but the time has come to protect ourselves. “I received several calls from hidden numbers trying to locate where I am and I had warned my security not to allow any Fulani man to come nearer me. “So when the men of DSS came in the middle of the night, I knew their mission and I had to call the Governor because if they ar

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure does not understand players leaving Europe to seek greater riches in the Chinese Super League – and only needs to look across town for inspiration. Earlier this month, Toure's agent revealed the player rejected the route - taken by the likes of Oscar, Carlos Tevez and Axel Witsel - of accepting a huge payday in China, despite his contract at the Etihad Stadium being up at the end of this season. The 33-year-old former Ivory Coast star fell out of favour during the opening months of Pep Guardiola's reign at City but has now re-established himself as a key first-team figure. It is a role he relishes, much like his one-time Barcelona team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is making his debut Premier League campaign with Manchester United one to remember at 35 years of age. Asked whether a move to China appealed, Toure told reporters: "Me? No. I'm still looking young, right? "I want to play in Europe, especially in Engl

Nigeria’s Internet Users Drop By 1.7m In 3 Months

About 1.7 million Nigerians have stopped using the internet in the last three months according to statistics from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Between September and December 2016, the figures showed a steady decline in the number of people that subscribed to internet via the four top mobile service providers. Closing September at 93.5 million users, the downward movement began in October as it dropped to 93.1, declining by over 400,000 users. By November, the figure of internet users had dropped to 92.4 million, while the year was wrapped up with a further decline to close at 91.8 million by December 2016. While there are a number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country, reports have suggested that most Nigerians prefer the mobile networks for data subscription, especially for personal use, while the ISPs are mainly patronised by corporate organisations. It is also believed that data subscription via the mobile networks is the cheapest option.
