RENAMING IRRESPONSIBILITY

When what used to go to the right all of a sudden moves to the left, then a right thinking person would have no other choice than to state that things have gone wrong. That is the scenario prevalent at this moment in Nigeria.

Africans especially Nigerians were known for their high moral discipline and their strong believe in maintaining the sanctity of marriage but like my friend would always say, “That is now in the past.” Could it be that the world have changed, is changing or that humans are trying to change the world?

The last time I checked, a day was still calculated to last for twenty four hours, it didn’t reduce or increase to twenty nine or thirty, there was still the “day” and the “night” that means that man’s wish didn’t succeed. The world hasn’t changed and has no intention of doing so, it is man that just wished it has.

This is an unusual area for me, but sometimes one needs to think aloud especially
when an issue becomes worrisome. 

Why are Nigerian celebrities charting a new course in the country? “The baby daddy and baby mama fashion” it has become trendy. All the guys now want to have a baby mama while majority of the ladies are looking for a hot celebrity for whom they could have the honour of being their baby mama.

Then my question is, why do people love eating their cakes and having it? You don’t want to be married but you want to have a child. That way you will be free to do more exploits and add to their number.

It all started with the legendary 2face in the early 2000s, then  Psquare, 9ice followed suit alongside Wande coal, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Kay Switch, May D, Wizkid, Terry G, Timaya, Reminsce, Flavour and the list is endless. Then I asked, are these ladies bereave of honour. Is it a crime if they give their parents the honour of  being "parents of the bride?" How much would one be paid to sacrifice her dignity as a woman? I don’t know, I believe they know better. After all is a changing world.

A celebrity is like an icon, the television made their faces loved by all who see them. That is an opportunity to be a model to look up to, a chance to make positive impacts in the lives of those young ones who look up to you. That was why God gave you the chance but when one uses what has been given to him against the giver, he should be rest assured of what happens next. It’s always taken back and given to the one who would make better use of it.It’s time we stop copying the bad things our western counter parts do and emulate the good ones. That is growth.

It’s time we find the meaning of what being responsible means and apply that in all we do. Ladies who indulge in these should redress and realize that their dignity is worth more than any rich celebrity while the guys should please reconsider their ideologies and do the right thing because no responsible man sites on the fence. Baby daddy and baby mama should be abolished and replaced with the one we all know and accept “father and mother.”
