Tidal waves helped find missing doctor's body
Insight have emerged on
how the body of Dr Allwell Orji, who drowned on Sunday, was recovered. It was
gathered that the body of the deceased medical doctor was washed ashore by
tidal ways, after three days, when he jumped into the lagoon.
The General Manager of
Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Bisola Kamson, confirmed on Wednesday
that the tidal waves aided the body recovery.
The LASWA boss stated
that a wave on the lagoon currently moves towards the CMS axis, hence the
aggressive search for the body of the late doctor along the axis since the
tragic incident.
Kamson also said:
“Since the recent development and tidal waves of the lagoon towards Elegbata,
CMS axis of the Marina, we had intensified the search around that axis.”
She continued that
“That is where tidal movement moves towards. So any drop from the scene of the
incident would move towards CMS Elegbata axis.
“Our monitoring team
are now from water.”
Kamson also said “We
had local divers who also worked in collaboration with LASWA and Marine police.
You know that different people were patrolling different area in the water.
“The water body is so
large that everyone will search everywhere” the Lagos waterway boss said.
She added that “The
family members came and were able to identify that the body that was wearing a
‘chinos” trousers was his, about 1and
half hours ago. It was an unfortunate incident, but Lagosians must be safety
conscious at all times, even while driving on the bridge.”
