Joe's Eight English Premier League Flops of the Season

FERNANDO TORRES: CHELSEA.

A hero in Atletico Madrid and a superstar at Liverpool. Much was expected of him at Chelsea where he went on a record sign on fee of 50million pounds but he has lived below expectation since his arrival. This season, he has managed only ten goals in over forty four appearances something that is below average for a player of his caliber.

JACK WILSHERE: ASERNAL
When he first surfaced at the Emirate club, he was expected to be a dictator of play, to be getting involved in the kind of goals players like Yaya Toure scores on regular bases, drifting in, beating and out smarting players, using his balance and touch to make things happen but that hasn’t happened yet and it invariably affected Arsenals campaign this season.

GABRIEL ABONLAHOR: ASTON VILLA
It is evident that he has gone stale in the last couple of seasons; he must be in serious need of a new challenge after many years of loyalty to Villa. He has an amazing pace that could frighten any defender but we couldn’t see the best of him over the past few seasons. He fell below expectations at Villa.
CADIFF CITY: WILFRED ZAHA

He was seen as an emerging star at Manchester United, but was surprisingly sent out to Cardiff city on loan. There, much was expected from him but he could not live up to the billing. Zaha needs to get back to basics if he will ever reach his potentials.

STEVAN JOVATIC: MANCHESTER CITY

Having come with such a high billing, much was anticipated, but injuries came and some elements of inconsistencies in matches. I don’t think he is mentally ready for the challenges of the premier league.
MANCHESTER UNITED MICHEAL CARRICK

A year ago, he was the English Xavi and Messi combined, but this season has seen a decline in his performances, he has been desperately poor, he may have been overrated.

PAPISS CISSE: NEWCASTLE UNITED

He had a healthy competition with Demba Ba a few seasons ago, that inspired both to be at their best but the boat has hit a rock for Cisse this season, his goals dried up, poor moves and a total disappointment this campaign.
ERIK LAMELA: TOTTEHAM

It could have been Paulinho or Soldado, but it is Lemela. Having come in at 30million euros and have such a woeful season is just disappointing.
