Coronavirus: It's Many Lies, Facts.

According to Galileo Galilei, Facts which at first seem improbable will, even on scant explanation, drop the cloak which has hidden them and stand forth in naked and simple beauty.
Coronavirus

The advent of corona virus has brought about many myths, disinformation and fake news about what it is and it's mode of transmission. This challenge is more prominent in online spaces like blogs and the social media. This is not to deny the obvious that facts also get disseminated through those mediums by legitimate sources.
These anomalies are the reasons why I decided to make my own little contribution by separating the facts from the fakes after investigations on the claims and counter claims.
Below are the falsehood and facts which I will differentiate with "LIES" and FACT."

1a. Lies: Corona virus kills anyone who gets infected.
1b. Fact: Most people who get infected develop mild illness and recover without needing professional assistance. To buttress this point, eight out of ten people who get infected develop mild illness, only one in seven becomes severely ill.

2a. Lies: You can tell when someone has covid-19.
2b. Fact: The virus can be in someone's body for fourteen days before symptoms appear and may be so mild that they might not notice.

3a. Lies: Corona virus do not affect black people.
3b. Fact: No race is immune from the virus. It respects no color or location.

4a. Lies: Corona virus is prevented by
swallowing, bathing or injecting disinfectant into the body.
4b. Fact: Disinfectants, soap and other agents are good for washing fabrics or cleaning surfaces but highly toxic and dangerous if applied on the body. Do not try it.

5a. Lies: Corona virus was deliberately created to reduce world's population.
5b. Fact: Viruses transform over time, occasionally, a disease outbreak occurs when a virus that is common in animals undergo changes and passes to humans. That is likely the case with covid-19.

6a. Lies: Corona virus is a bacteria not virus as claimed.
6b. Facts: The virus that causes COVID-19 is in a family of viruses called Corona viridae. Antibiotics do not work against viruses. Some people who become ill with COVID-19 can also develop a bacterial infection as a complication. In this case, antibiotics may be recommended by a health care provider.
There is currently no licensed medication to cure COVID-19. If you have symptoms, call your health care provider or COVID-19 hotline for assistance.

7a.Lies:  Drinking alcohol prevents corona virus.
7b. Fact: Alcohol does not prevent corona virus and can be dangerous to health.
8a. Lies: Adding a lot of pepper in the food prevents corona virus.

8b. Fact:  Adding a lot of pepper in your food, though very tasty, cannot prevent or cure COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself against the new coronavirus is to keep at least 1 meter away from others and to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. It is also beneficial for your general health to maintain a balanced diet, stay well hydrated, exercise regularly and sleep well.

9a.Lies: Covid-19 is transmitted through houseflies.
9b. Fact: To date, there is no evidence or information to suggest that the COVID-19 virus transmitted through houseflies. The virus that cause COVID-19 spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. You can also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands. To protect yourself, keep at least 1-metre distance from others and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces. Clean your hands thoroughly and often and avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.

10a. Lies: 5G network spread corona virus.
10b. Fact: Viruses cannot travel on radio waves/mobile networks. COVID-19 is spreading in many countries that do not have 5G mobile networks. It is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. People can also be infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, mouth or nose.

It will be nice if we desist from misinformation and focus more on facts and truth for the good of all.

Comments

  1. Factual. Best to filter the noise of the mass. My small contributions is to listen to the epidemiologist, lab professional and pathologist. ASCP has many webinars with expert panelists that are informative and at the same time honest enough to tell you that a lot are not know of the pandemic Covid19, facts you want to hear.
